Nottingham Trent University (NTU) has been ranked 16th in the 2019 Guardian University Guide – an 18-place climb from its position just one year ago.
This surge up the league table has placed NTU ahead of local Russell Group member, the University of Nottingham, for the first time ever. In the last few years, Nottingham Trent has risen from 53rd place in 2017, to 34th in 2018 and has now achieved its best ever ranking in the most recent listings.
Designed to reflect the criteria most important to prospective students, the Guardian University Guide is based on factors such as how beneficial the teaching is at each university; current students’ opinions of their courses; and how likely they are to get a good job as a result of studying there. The University has made substantial gains in every area, and with particular regard to graduate career prospects and its results in the National Student Survey.
Excellence in teaching and student support
Our expert faculty has earned the University a Gold award in the Teaching Excellence Framework. This same faculty teach both our online and on-campus courses; the only difference is how they deliver content and interact with the student body.
When teaching online, our tutors and module leads provide outstanding educational and pastoral supervision. Students can engage online, share ideas, work collaboratively and build professional relationships – just as they could in person – whilst accessing academic and technical support. Our online courses bring together students from around the world, in an inclusive and supportive learning environment – in 2018 we received a QS 5 star rating for internationalisation.
A growing list of prestigious accolades
Nottingham Business School (NBS), which delivers our Online MBA, has earned official ratification from two prominent business education accreditation systems – the AACSB and EQUIS. Only 1% of business schools worldwide have received this dual accreditation.
NTU is ranked 2nd in the UK for Building, Town and Country Planning in the 2019 Guardian University Guide, which – alongside RICS accreditation – gives the Online MSc in Construction Project Management a directly applicable commercial focus. Our third online degree, the Online MA in International Relations, provides a rich exploration of the most pertinent global issues and movements, and is ideal preparation for a career in the international arena.
Flexible access to an award-winning university
In 2017, the Times Higher Education Awards named Nottingham Trent as University of the Year. Earning the top honour over 100 other institutions, Nottingham Trent was rated highest on a range of important factors, including teaching quality, research and innovation.
These same factors inform the design and delivery of our online courses. Students learning online benefit from the same world-class standards of education, with the added advantages of personal and professional freedom. With the chance to put new skills and knowledge to immediate use in real working environments, our online students can gain flexible career-boosting expertise on their own terms.
