The Values-Led Organisation

Overview and aims
The purpose of this module is to allow you to develop the insights, capacities and skills to create and maintain responsible and sustainable business practices. The main aims of the module are for you to:

  • understand the interface between ethics, CSR, corporate governance and integrated sustainability
  • create multidisciplinary insight into the requirements of socially responsible business operations across the value chain
  • influence organisational culture
  • understand ethical and sustainability risks
  • understand and engage in good governance
  • manage sustainability reporting

Module content
You will be challenged to critically reflect on the ethical dimensions and sustainability considerations pertaining to various dimensions of business and management practice.

Learning outcomes
After studying this module you should be able to:

  • critically analyse the relevant theories informing responsible and sustainable business from a multidisciplinary perspective
  • develop a critical appreciation of relevant international developments and agreements in ethics, CSR, corporate governance and integrated sustainability
  • evaluate risk management from a holistic perspective
  • evaluate the developments of new conceptions of ‘value’
  • display a critical appreciation of good governance practices
  • appraise different sustainability reporting formats

This module will help you gain the skills and qualities to:

  • analyse an organisation’s strategic direction across its various operations
  • advise your organisation on the internalisation of externalities
  • perform an ethical risk analysis for your organisation
  • critically analyse organisational cultural ‘scripts’
  • effectively manage diversity in organisations
  • critically evaluate your organisation’s reporting practices
