“Before starting the course, I had completed a BSc (Hons) Real Estate degree at NTU. I chose to study Project Management to broaden my horizons. From my undergraduate degree I’d begun to understand myself as a person and the strengths I believe I had, and where I would have an interest in a career/further study.
We had involvement with industry which were relevant to the modules. As somebody who prefers to visually see something, this made learning easier. We also had a variety of guest speakers providing insight into different elements of the industry.
Highlights for me included the understanding that develops from a very early stage, the range of modules studied, and support from lecturers and fellow students.
Since completing the course I’ve gained a position as an assistant cost manager for a leading global programme management and construction consultancy. I currently sit within the mechanical and electrical team in our retail sector. Most of my time is spent finding ways of delivering the best value to major retailers across the UK.
I regularly use the skills I learned on the MSc because the range of modules on the course links in perfectly with the industry and consulting environment. Not only is the construction knowledge important, but additional skills learned through non-construction related modules are arguably the most critical.”
